John joined the recruitment industry in 2016 developing networks across multiple industries and functions in Asia. With a background in entrepreneurship and international trade, he enjoys developing relationships and is passionate about the global commodities industries.
Since joining Proco Commodities, John works across functions in the Singapore team. Some of the functions that he has covered include Trading, Operations, Contract Administration, and Structured Financing. Working closely in the commodities industry across the various product classes, he is working towards further deepening his expertise and developing a reputation as a business partner of choice.
As the world’s largest importer of many commodities and home to a population of 1.4 billion, the Chinese market is now a hotbed of supply and demand, and building a physical presence within its borders is no longer an optional consideration but an existential necessity for all commodity firms.
I have been working within executive search for the past 15 years across Asia Pacific and the Americas region; with a specific focus on the commodity markets over the past 5 years. One of the biggest trends I have seen evolve in the North American market, is companies wanting to partner with subject matter experts when they are looking to hire, rather than engage non-industry specific search firms.
